Every manager knows the Thursday text thread. Someone is hurt, someone is traveling, and at four in the afternoon you are counting heads and coming up one short. Turf Wire is the fix. It is a free agent board for indoor soccer, live now at Tualatin Indoor, and free for managers, players and facilities.

What a manager gets

  • Post an open spot in about a minute. Day, time, what you need. Free agents who said they are free that night get a push or an email right away.
  • Pick who plays. Players claim the spot and you approve one. When you do, the two of you swap contact details, and nobody else sees them.
  • A roster that answers. Invite your players and every game carries RSVPs, so you know your count before game night. At the end of the session a roster check asks who is back.
  • Your schedule, read for you. Paste your league page from the facility's site and new games and time changes show up on their own, every day. No page? Send a screenshot and we'll parse it into a readable schedule. Every game is in a calendar link too that you can share via .ics.
  • The small stuff. Polls for the team (pizza or food carts). A Payment tracker beside each name when fees are due, an assistant manager to help with everything.
  • A full-time spot. Short for the whole next session, not just a night? Post that and find a new player.

What a player gets

  • Open spots tonight and this week, with the division and the color to bring.
  • Claim with one tap. The manager approves and you get the details.
  • Tell us which nights you are free and we tell you when a spot opens.
  • Score for the leaderboard. Managers learn they can count on you. Which brings me to the oranges.

Do a thing, get a slice!

You did this Slices
Claimed a spot and played 1
Rescue: claimed inside 12 hours of kickoff, for a team you are not on 2
Answered your own team's RSVP two days out and stuck to it 1
Showed up for your own team's game 1
Paid your fees by the due date 1
Did not show, and did not message -2

Slices add up to a level, and the level carries a title. Level 1 is Warm Body. Level 4 is Ringer. Level 7 is Free Agent Emeritus, and nobody is there yet.

Every month has a leaderboard. On the 8th the month closes, the podium is read, and first place gets a whole orange, second a half. Whoever leads the live month holds the Golden Cleat. There are boards for this month, last month, the season, all time, keepers, and reliability. You start on the boards. A profile setting takes you off.

Then there are the badges, which earn themselves from what you did. The Closer, for a claim under an hour to kickoff. Dawn Patrol, for a Sunday before nine. Nobody Volunteers For This, for five games in goal. Human Traffic Cone, which a manager hands out and never has to explain.

Getting in

Go to turfwire.app. Your email makes the account. No password. If you run a team, start it. If you play, say which nights, and the board is yours.

See you Thursday.
